About Us Anderson Academy is beginning it's 21st year of preschool for two, three and four-year olds. The after school program services Parker, Burnet and Oppe Elementary Schools. The children at Anderson Academy are cared for in a kind and loving environment. We fell that learning can be fun if presented in a fun way. We also feel that two, three and four-year olds have much to learn socially. We endeavor to provide a good atmosphere for social interaction here at Anderson Academy. The curriculum for two, three and four-year olds is developmentally appropriate. Two year olds enjoy story time, music, painting and outside play. Curriculum for three year olds includes several unit studies, including a "Down on the Farm" unit, complete with a visit from a petting zoo. Besides art, music and circle time, the four year olds prepare for entering Kindergarten by completing the "Reading Readiness" workbooks by Lippincott Publishers. Many children from Parker, Burnet and Oppe Schools are enrolled in our after-school program. These children also stay with us during spring break, winter break and teacher in-service days at no additional cost to their parents. Upon arriving at Anderson Academy, these children enjoy a snack time and then outside play for one hour. This is a winding down time from a busy school day. After playing outside, the children come inside for a homework period. Teachers are available to help in this area. Table games, Super Nintendo, Ping Pong, etc. are also available to help entertain children. All teachers at Anderson Academy are certified in CPR and First Aid and attend continuing education classes in child development throughout the year. The school is state-licensed and employs a full staff to ensure low teacher/child ratios. This enables teachers to work with the students one on one. All immunization records must be current and on the file for children to participate in our programs. |
